Ok, I’m over the BS and it’s time for some hardcore truth.
Some coaches may not like me after this.
But hey, it is what it is.
Over the recent years, there have been almost cult-like trends going on in the coaching industry that has pushed my last nerve.
I have been in the coaching industry 10 years plus and I’m sick to my stomach in the direction it’s going.
I only have room in this post to tell you about ONE of the many things that grind my gears.
But in future posts, I will break down the rest.
The one I’m going to tell you about today is the “Secret Sauce” trend.
You know the type…
“To Bosses and Boss Babes:
Last year I was so overwhelmed with no money, no job, 20 kids, pulling my hair out in frustration and after I discovered the “secret sauce” I now have a zillion dollar coaching business, coaching coaches on to how to create their own zillion dollar coaching business. Today, I’m living on the beach, no worries, no problems, just overwhelming amounts of money in my bank account every day with little effort.
My life is great, I found the love of my life, my kids are happy, I’m happy, just really happy. If you want to have an awesome life, a zillion dollar coaching business and be happy just like me, you have to learn this “secret sauce.”
This “secret sauce system” is the only system you need to change your life and business forever. All you have to do is hand me your life savings and you will be able to have a life like me.
Now, I know you have responsibilities like kids and bills BUT I’m sorry to tell you, you only have 5 minutes to make up your mind and empty your bank account or you will lose out on the only opportunity to change your life.
I know you have the money. You are just saying you don’t have the money because you have a limited mindset and you don’t really want success. But if you do want success and you want the “secret sauce”, you now have 4 minutes to pay me and continue growing my zillion dollar business.”
Okay so I exaggerated a bit LOL, but you get what I mean.
So, here’s the problem…
There is no “secret sauce” period.
There are strategies.
Some work faster than others.
Some you may know, some you may not.
But believe me, there’s no “secret sauce.”
Look, I don’t knock anyone who wants to teach you their method of getting clients and building a coaching business.
My problem is when they make you believe, #1 it’s a big secret and #2 their way is the ONLY way.
This leaves you in FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).
You come across yet another ad telling you they got what you need and your business is failing because you don’t know what they know.
You ’ve just spent thousands of dollars on one course who said they got the secret sauce and now…
“OMG wait, maybe this person has it, maybe they can help me… I will just pay for this one last course”
You buy it…
It doesn’t work…
Then you are being told, it doesn’t work because you have not implemented the strategy.
And that may be true..
But in my experience in working with coaches who complain to me about these courses, is that there’s almost always one main reason the sauce is not working for you…
And that is…
Their strategy does not resonate with you. It doesn’t feel authentic to you. Their method is not who you are.
Maybe you don’t have the money to do Facebook Ads
Maybe you hate writing blog posts
Maybe you are uncomfortable on video
Maybe you are uncomfortable doing live webinars
Maybe you don’t want high-end clients
Maybe you don’t have time to sit on Instagram
…or whatever it is that they are teaching you.
There are many ways to get clients and build a profitable coaching business, but the reality is, it really comes down to these 4 things:
How to attract prospects (traffic)
How to engage with prospects (build relationships)
How to convert prospects to clients (conversion)
How to coach clients to get results (done right and this part will continue to bring you clients)
Some coaches teach you THEIR way of attracting prospects.
Some coaches teach you THEIR way of engaging
Some coaches teach you THEIR way of converting
Most never teach you how to coach, but that’s a topic for another day.
The bottom-line is it’s THEIR way.
It doesn’t work for everyone.
If you are going to spend money on a course, make sure you know a little about what they are going to teach you, make sure it’s a path you really want to take, and please make sure you are not just riding the next wave.
